According to AOL News, the Koala population is being ravaged by Chlamydia.


Researchers aren't sure how the marsupials first came in contact with the disease. However it leads to pink eye and kidney infections and eventually infertility amongst the cuddly tree-huggers.

If a vaccine isn't developed, koalas are expected to become extinct within the decade.

So sad!
